I feel like I've done a lot of portraits with dramatic and dark lighting, so I wanted to do something a little different with the lighting situation. I saw a digital piece that featured a halo-like glow on someone's hair and thought it was really beautiful, so that influenced me in putting the lamp behind her head and having the main light source coming from the edges of her hair. I'm really happy with the way it turned out, the cross-hatching lent itself really well to the highlighted strands of hair, even though it was really minimal. I realized kind of early on that the face didn't look as much like Hannah's as I wanted it to, but I liked it anyway. I think if I knew I had more time to work on it, I would have spent a lot more time measuring and getting all the features correct (which could have taken a while). |
